Driving licence renewal: how often should it be renewed depending on age?

The validity period of a driving licence varies depending on its category and the driver's age. Below you will find information concerning the   B licence  , the most common for cars and light motorcycles.

Up to age 50:

• Renewal every   10 years
• From 50 to 70 years old:
• Renewal every   5 years
• From 70 to 80 years old:
• Renewal every   3 years

• Medical examination: what is required for renewal?

  A medical examination is mandatory for each renewal  , during which the following elements are checked:

  • sight and hearing
  • reflexes and motor skills
  • general psychophysical state
  • If necessary, your doctor may request further tests. In certain cases of specific medical conditions, the renewal period may be reduced.
